Court Security Advisory Committee

This committee makes recommendations to the council for improving court security, including personal security and emergency response planning.

Members

The advisory committee is currently composed of an appellate court justice, appellate court administrator, trial court judges, and trial court judicial administrators. It reports directly to the Judicial Council. Future members will be appointed by the Chief Justice for a three-year term. Existing membership terms were staggered so that one third of the committee will change each year, beginning in September 2015.

Background
In April 2013, the Judicial Council approved a recommendation that included creation of a Court Security Advisory Committee with a formal charge, a rule of court, and appointments made through the annual nominations process. Proposed rule 10.61 to establish the committee was circulated for public comment and then submitted to the Judicial Council for consideration. The Judicial Council established the Court Security Advisory Committee effective October 25, 2013.
