Judicial Council Meetings
The Judicial Council holds six to eight business meetings each year. These meetings are open to the public unless closed under rule 10.6(a) or (b) of the California Rules of Court.
Judicial Council Members
Council members are volunteers and do not receive additional compensation for their service. Most members are appointed by the Chief Justice, who serves as Chair of the Council, or by the State Bar Board of Trustees. Legislative representatives and advisory members also serve.
Advisory Bodies
To provide leadership for advancing the consistent, impartial, independent, and accessible administration of justice, the Judicial Council must be aware of the issues and concerns confronting the judiciary, as well as appropriate solutions and responses. The council carries out this mission primarily through the work of its advisory committees and task forces.
Judicial Branch Strategic Plan
The Judicial Council of California provides leadership in the judicial branch by using a set of guiding principles, while working to improve the future of the judicial branch by overcoming common fundamental challenges.
Judicial Council Staff
The Judicial Council staff supports the council in performing its functions. Council staff report to the Administrative Director, who serves as the Secretary of the Judicial Council.
